Mary Fister is an associate professor of English. She teaches Introduction to Composition, Introduction to Literary Analysis, Genre Writing Seminar, and Survey of American Literature.
"I did not reach my full academic potential until later, and so I am honored and excited to participate in this awakening process with my students," Fister says. "I am passionate about the power inherent in language to affect and transform our experiences. There is no greater gratification for me when students catch fire with this power by reading more deeply and writing more effectively."
Fister's research interests include:
- Modern and contemporary American poetry
- Southern and contemporary fiction
- Special topics in comedy
